Welcome to Matsuyama
In 1991, Teijin and Hoechst joined forces to set up monofilament production in Japan, integrating it into the complex structure of the Matsuyama plant. Seven years later, Teijin bought Hoechst's shareholding, and shortly afterwards purchased the European and American monofilament divisions with effect from January 1, 2001. This marked the emergence of Teijin Monofilament as a globally active corporation with turnover of $100 million.
The Japanese site employs 30 members of staff and produces polyester monofilaments with diameters ranging from 0.10 mm to 1.40mm. It produces monofilaments with both round and profiled cross sections made of various polymers. However, the Japanese site's specialty is ultrafine polyester monofilaments (0.031 mm/dtex 10 f1 to 0.055 mm/dtex 33 f1) used all over the world in screen printing and fine filtration fabrics.
Teijin's Matsuyama operation mainly serves the Japanese and East Asian markets.
