Welcome to Bobingen
Teijin's European production center – Teijin Monofilament Germany – is located in the small town of Bobingen.
Bobingen is about 60km (just over 40 miles) west of Munich and 10 minutes' drive south of Augsburg in Bavaria. The manufacture of high-quality polyester monofilaments actually began in Bobingen back in 1957 – initially under Hoechst and since 2001 as Teijin Monofilament.
With 250 members of staff, Bobingen is the largest of Teijin's three sites. Its diverse polyester, polyamide and PPS monofilaments as well as monofilaments made of other hotmelt spun polymers are produced in different diameters and profiled cross sections. In addition to producing bicomponent monofilaments, Bobingen sells ultrafine monofilaments, too. Teijin's product and process development arm is also based in Bobingen.
Together with its associated operations in the USA and Japan, Teijin Monofilament Germany makes up Teijin's monofilament business unit with turnover of $100 million.
